What We Do

Our practice specializes in offering personalized art therapy sessions that integrate psychodynamic principles. Through a variety of creative techniques such as painting, drawing, sculpture, and other forms of artistic expression, we guide our clients in exploring their subconscious thoughts, emotions, and experiences. This process allows for a deeper understanding of oneself, leading to increased self-awareness, emotional resilience, and overall well-being.

Our Approach

At the core of our approach is the belief that art serves as a powerful medium for communication and healing. By engaging in the creative process under the guidance of a trained psychodynamic art therapist, clients can uncover and process unconscious material, gain insights into recurring patterns, and develop new ways of coping with challenges. Each therapy session is tailored to meet the unique needs and goals of the individual, fostering a supportive and non-judgmental environment for personal exploration and growth.

Expressionism

Art therapists pay attention to how clients engage with materials, make choices, and interact with their artwork. Artwork often contains symbols and metaphors that can provide insights into the client's unconscious thoughts and feelings. The therapist helps interpret these symbols to deepen understanding.

Painting is one of many forms of art used in art therapy practices

Classical Art

In art therapy, the use of classical art techniques and styles can vary depending on the goals of therapy and the preferences of the client. It may be used to encourage self-expression, explore emotions, develop coping skills, or simply as a relaxing and enjoyable activity. Art therapists often adapt classical art approaches to suit the therapeutic needs and cultural backgrounds of their clients, creating a versatile and personalized approach to healing through art.

At Create Art Therapy we use drawing and clay sculpting to help express our feelings and thoughts

Creativity

Art therapy harnesses the transformative power of creativity to promote emotional healing, self-expression, and personal empowerment. It provides a dynamic and flexible therapeutic modality that encourages clients to explore and expand their creative potential in a supportive and therapeutic environment.
